Printing

Templates are only useful if they print at the right size. BloqLoft generates actual-size PDFs, but your printer's default settings may try to scale them. Here's how to make sure your output is accurate.

Print at 100% scale

When you print a template PDF, the most important setting is scale. Set it to 100% (also labeled "Actual Size" or "No Scaling" depending on your printer). Do not use "Fit to Page" or "Shrink to Fit," as these will resize your templates and make them inaccurate.

Verify with the test box

Every template page includes a verification box with known dimensions. After printing, measure this box with a ruler. If it matches the printed dimensions exactly, your templates are accurate. If not, check your print settings and try again.

Always measure first. Cutting fabric from an incorrectly scaled template wastes material and produces pieces that won't fit together. The 30-second ruler check is worth it every time.

Paper size

BloqLoft generates templates for standard paper sizes (US Letter or A4, depending on your device's region setting). Large templates that don't fit on a single page are tiled across multiple pages with alignment marks for taping together.

Printing from iPad

Use the share sheet to send the PDF to your AirPrint printer, or save it to Files and print from a computer. If printing from iPad, look for the scale option in the print dialog. It's usually under "Options" or a gear icon.
