Preferences
BloqLoft's preferences control app-wide behavior. Open Settings from the gear icon to access them.
Seam allowance
The seam allowance setting controls how much extra fabric is added around each template piece for sewing. Adjust it with the slider from 1/8" up to 2". The standard quilting seam allowance is 1/4", but you can set whatever your project requires.
This setting applies to the Block Editor's templates and yardage calculations.
Paper piecing seam allowance
Paper piecing uses a separate seam allowance setting. Foundation paper piecing (FPP) often needs a different allowance than standard rotary cutting. This lets you set each independently without switching back and forth.
Grid style
Choose how the background grid displays in the editors:
- Lines — A standard line grid
- Checkerboard — Alternating light and dark squares, which some quilters find easier to read
Backup and export
To back up your BloqLoft data, use the export option in Settings. This creates a backup file you can save to Files, iCloud Drive, or share to another location using the system share sheet.
Back up regularly, especially before updating the app or switching devices.
Backup and import
To restore from a backup, use the import option. Select a BloqLoft backup file and the app will show you an import summary of what's included before you confirm. This lets you review what will be restored before committing.
Touch indicators
Touch indicators display visible dots where you touch the screen. This is useful for recording tutorials or demos where viewers need to see your gestures. You can adjust the opacity, size, and color of the indicators.
Onboarding coach marks
Coach marks are the hint overlays that appear when you first use certain features. If you dismissed them and want to see them again, you can reset them from Settings.
Auto-save
BloqLoft saves every change immediately. This is always on and not configurable, because losing work is never acceptable.
