Shape Studio

Shape Studio is where you browse, manage, and create the shapes that go into your blocks. BloqLoft ships with a library of common quilting shapes, and you can design your own from scratch.

The shape library

Every shape available in BloqLoft lives here: squares, half-square triangles, quarter-square triangles, diamonds, rectangles, flying geese, kites, hexagons, and more. These are the same shapes you see in the Block Editor's Shapes tab, organized in one place for browsing.

Shapes are geometric building blocks. Each one defines the outline of a patch. When you assign a shape to a patch in the Block Editor, you're choosing the cut lines for that piece of fabric.

Custom shapes

If the built-in library doesn't have what you need, create your own. Tap the + button to open the Shape Editor, where you draw shapes by placing vertices on a snap grid.

Custom shapes work exactly like built-in shapes once they're created. You can use them in any block, and they produce manufacturable templates with accurate seam allowances.

Managing shapes

Long-press a custom shape for options:

  • Edit — Open it in the Shape Editor to modify
  • Duplicate — Create a copy as a starting point for a variation
  • Rename — Give it a descriptive name
  • Delete — Remove it from your library

Note: Built-in shapes can't be edited or deleted. They're always available as a reference library.
